When two iconic brands like Wendy’s and SpongeBob SquarePants come together, the result is always something incredible and out of this world. Wendy’s and Paramount Studios have teamed up together and decided it’s time to bring the legendary Krabby Patty to life, in celebration of the approaching 25th anniversary of Nickelodeon’s hit show SpongeBob SquarePants. This partnership is one for the books since it also taps into US pop culture and brings back nostalgia in a way that will appeal to both Wendy’s loyal customers and SpongeBob fans.

Why this collab is special

This partnership is brilliant because it has literally turned fantasy into reality. SpongeBob SquarePants fans have always wondered for years how a Krabby Patty burger might actually taste like. But this isn’t a fantasy any more, since Wendy’s team has stepped up to the plate with a version of the beloved burger that’s prepared using the best quality and premium ingredients. The Krabby Patty is served in a bun that fits SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom setup, and it also  features Wendy’s signature quarter-pound beef patty, fresh veggies, and  the food joint’s top secret Krabby Kollab sauce. This special burger will be supplemented by the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, which is a decadent vanilla treat with a tropical twist proudly brought to you by Wendy’s.

The power of pop culture in marketing

Companies like Wendy’s fully understand the value of pop culture in promoting their products and services. This is a culture that spans generations, and SpongeBob for instance, is a cartoon that has been part of kids’, teens’, and adults’ culture for more than 25 years. This partnership will allow Wendy’s to connect with fans across all age groups without disregarding the adults who grew up watching SpongeBob, or the little ones who just discovered the program for the very first time. It’s a joint marketing effort that’s just as exciting as seeing Krabby Patty come to life.

Wendy’s US Chief Marketing Officer, Lindsay Radkoski, puts it  out plainly and explains the significance of this partnership, “It makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this limited experience to life for fans of all ages.”

Exclusive experiences for Wendy’s customers

Wendy’s and Paramount Studios are committed to create memorable experiences for fans through this Krabby Patty Kollab. Lucky fans will get the first taste of the Krabby Patty burger at an exclusive drive-thru event hosted by Wendy’s in Los Angeles. This event will run for two days in Panorama City to usher in a one-of-a-kind experience that blurs the lines between fast food and fan convention. But those who are not in LA don’t need to worry about anything either, since the burger and the frosty will still be available for purchase nationwide starting on October 8th, all it takes is just a mobile app order.

Bringing creativity to the table

The attention to quality and creativity demonstrated by Wendy’s is exactly what sets this partnership apart from other joint marketing efforts. Wendy’s have created a real life Krabby Patty while adhering to their brand’s commitment to using only the freshest and high quality ingredients. For instance, the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty is a clever combination of Wendy’s classic vanilla and an astounding tropical flavor.

Paramount’s CMO Dario Spina was full of praise regarding Wendy’s role in this partnership, “Wendy’s pulse on pop culture and connection to fans makes this collaboration a perfect match.”

The only thing that this Wendy’s and SpongeBob collab further proves is that creativity will always surpass expectations when executed in the right manner.
